THE GEOTHERMAL DIFFERENCE Unlike ordinary heat pump systems, Geothermal Systems use the free and renewable ground temperature instead of outside air to provide heating, cooling and hot water. VIRGINIA GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMP REBATE PROGRAM Due to unclaimed and unreserved funds remaining from the Virginia Energy Efficiency Rebate Program, funding is available for homeowners to reserve funds for Geothermal heat pump systems using funds from the American Recovery and Reconstruction Act. Available to Virginia homeowners who purchase and install a new Geothermal heat pump system as a replacement for their existing system. For more information on this rebate program visit: This rebate program can be used in conjunction with the Federal Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008*, which provides homeowners with a onetime Federal Tax credit of 30% of the total investment in a new Geothermal heat pump system with no cap.
